Instant Communication using “ARARA”
The ARARA service was created with the aim of promoting the use of voice and video technology services over IP in the public higher education community.
The ARARA instant communication service provides the RCTS community with a solution for unified communications. It uses software phone terminals with voice, video call, audio conference, video conference, presence and Instant Messaging features. The softphone is the main interface for the VoIP
RCTS service.
The ARARA softphone, besides providing SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and XMPP (The Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) services in arara.pt, can also be used as a terminal telephone for the institution’s private voice network , allowing the registration of SIP accounts in the institution’s corporate iPBX.
The use of the ARARA service is supported by the RCTSaai federated authentication and authorization mechanisms.
The ARARA instant communication service is used by the RCTS community particularly researchers, professors, students and higher education staff.
