Registration is now open for the second edition of the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course"Supercomputing: Accelerating the future, together!", a course onlineThis is an open and free program that reinforces Portugal's commitment to training and capacity building in high-performance computing (HPC) technologies. Registrations are open on the NAU platform..
Following the success of the first edition, which featured more than 3,700 registered, the course returns with new modules and updated content, keeping pace with the evolution of supercomputing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and its application in scientific and business contexts.
New modules and updated content
Among the main new features of this second edition, one stands out. module dedicated to the new national supercomputerswith a focus on Deucalion and the MareNostrum5, the latter developed in collaboration with NCC of Türkiye and the NCC of Spain, as well as other resources of National Center for Advanced Computing (CNCA). These infrastructures represent a significant advance in national and European capacity in advanced computing.
The new edition also includes a A module entirely dedicated to Artificial Intelligence., addressing topics such as Large Language Models (LLMs), applications of generative AI (text, image and music), supercomputing infrastructure requirements and the main challenges associated with these technologies.
The course also includes a module dedicated to companieswhere they are presented Real-world use cases of supercomputing, including in a business context., highlighting its contribution to innovation, competitiveness, and process optimization. In this module, participants also have access to Practical simulations illustrating how to access national supercomputing infrastructures.allowing for a concrete understanding of the mechanisms for accessing this technology in Portugal.
