Held on the days July 15th and 16th, under the theme "Preparing for the Future", the Science and Innovation Meeting 2026 It brought together researchers, companies, institutions, and decision-makers in a space for reflection and debate on the challenges and priorities of research and innovation in Portugal, and was the first major event organized by Agency for Research and Innovation (AI²).
Science and Innovation 2026 in Numbers
Among the main figures, the following stand out: 2,350 registered participants and 25 speakers in plenary sessions.Of 206 proposals submittedTwenty sessions were structured, organized around six thematic macro-areas, defined from themes proposed by the community itself: Digital; Health; Territory, Agriculture and Environment; Industry and Energy; Society; and Science and Innovation Ecosystem.
The proposals involved more than 1,200 participants and approximately 1,000 different organizations (academia, companies, administration, sector organizations), highlighting the diversity and scope of the national science and innovation ecosystem. Over the two days of the event, 150 pitches were presented, authored by approximately 1,000 proponents and co-proponents.
