THE Open Research Europe (ORE) It is evolving. Starting in the fall of 2026, the platform will transition to a new operating model under the leadership of CERN, continuing the solid foundation established by European Commission since its launch in 2021. This evolution is accompanied by the launch of a new image and identity for the initiative.
A new identity
When ORE was launched in 2021 as the European Commission's open access publishing platform, its visual identity was designed to reflect its core values: Transparency, accessibility, and innovation in scientific communication..
As part of the transition to its new phase, ORE's visual identity is also evolving. A new logo will be introduced, along with a platform redesign. web from ORE, designed to reflect CERN's role in leading and shaping the future of the initiative and the role of the new funders supporting the project, including the Foundation for Science and Technology.

The new logo brings together three central ideas that form the basis of the platform:
- Open – An idea expressed through a circular and rounded shape, which conveys transparency, continuity, and accessibility.
- Research – Symbolized by the idea of vision and a central structure resembling an eye, reflecting clarity, focus, and future-oriented knowledge.
- Europe – Represented by a sense of unity in diversity, where the whole is composed of distinct but interconnected parts, evoking collaboration between countries.
The result is a rounded symbol associated with vision, fragmented into different sections and accompanied by a typeface designed to align with the geometry of a circle.
Together, these elements create a visual identity that embodies the values of openness, perspective, and collective progress.
