THE 9th edition of Arquivo.pt Award It's on its way, inviting everyone to delve into Portuguese digital memory and create innovative projects that use it as their main source. Arquivo.pt, the FCT digital service developed through FCCN. Applications open in January 2026 and remain open until May 6.
Prepare a project on a topic of your choice, where originality and the use of Arquivo.pt are essential. The prize is open to individual or group works, with no thematic restrictions. from historical and sociological research, through education, communication and technology, to design of practical applications that explore the content preserved in Arquivo.pt.
This is a unique opportunity to travel through time and transform digital memory into knowledge relevant to the present, giving visibility to innovative projects that promote digital preservation. By using the Using Arquivo.pt as the primary source, participants can uncover historical narratives, develop useful tools, and contribute to the social and scientific understanding of Portugal's digital presence.
Awards and honorable mentions
The person responsible for the winning work of the Arquivo.pt 2026 Prize. The winner receives €10,000, followed by a second prize of €3,000, and third place is awarded €2,000..
In addition to the main prizes, there are honorable mentions that recognize projects with special focuses. Public Newspaper is once again the media partner of the initiative, and will reward work focused on the contents of your archive online, offering two years of digital subscription..
THE DNS.pt Association (.PT) This award recognizes the student whose work has used Arquivo.pt to explore and promote Portugal's digital presence, focusing on a topic about a .pt website or the history of the .pt domain. The award includes a prize of €1,500, intended for the purchase of a laptop computer.
Assessment and conditions
The jury for the 9th edition of the Arquivo.pt Prize will be composed of experts from diverse fields, ranging from literature, journalism, and technology to biology and art history. Evaluation criteria include the clarity and structure of the application, the originality and maturity of the project, the social and scientific impact, and especially the relevance of using Arquivo.pt for the work presented.
