The National Center for Advanced Computing (CNCA) and the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) are promoting the workshops “AI Applications in Agriculture: Innovation and Digitalization” on June 23 and 30. This initiative is aimed at professionals, researchers, producers, and specialists interested in exploring the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive innovation in the agricultural sector.
The events will take place at the SANA Metropolitan Hotel – Sala Madrid B, in Lisbon, on June 23rd, and at the AIDA CCI – Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the District of Aveiro, in Aveiro, on June 30th, bringing together experts, users and entities from the digital innovation ecosystem to present concrete solutions that are already transforming agriculture through advanced data analysis, computer vision and machine learning.
Throughout the sessions, participants will have the opportunity to learn about use cases that demonstrate the impact of AI in areas such as crop monitoring, resource optimization, and decision support. Opportunities offered by the BSC AI Factory will also be presented; this initiative provides free access to advanced computing resources and specialized technical support for the development of innovative projects.
One of the highlights of the program will be a hands-on demonstration on the Deucalion supercomputer, during which participants will be able to train their own Artificial Intelligence models to identify agricultural crops from satellite imagery. This hands-on session will provide direct experience with advanced computing infrastructures used in cutting-edge research and innovation.
To participate in this hands-on activity, participants must bring their own laptop. Participants will receive instructions beforehand on how to create an account to access the Deucalion supercomputer; this process must be completed in advance to ensure the session runs smoothly. Basic knowledge of Python programming and Machine Learning is also recommended.
