Launched in 2008, the Zappiens Its main objective was to aggregate educational, scientific, cultural or artistic multimedia content produced, preferably in a school environment and in Portuguese, for easy dissemination to a wide audience via the Internet.
The provision of educational videos produced by and for the school community aimed to encourage the creation, publication and viewing of more and better content.
Zappiens was thus divided into the following thematic areas: Arts and Humanities, Exact Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technologies, Education and Competitions -, each subdivided into different branches.
For technical and resource reasons, it will no longer be possible to update and maintain the service, so it will soon be will be discontinued.
The trust placed in Zappiens over its existence has enabled the collection of approximately 2,500 pieces of content created by the school community. All of these videos uploaded to Zappiens by users over the past 10 years will be migrated to an alternative content-sharing platform – the Portal Educast. Content transfer will respect content copyright, categories, and metadata.
The new destination for Zappiens content – the Educast – is a video management service for the simple recording and distribution of educational content, which can be used to make new videos available. If you're interested in continuing to make this type of video available, please contact our team.
