Over the last few years, the Center for Judicial Studies (CEJ) has uploaded more than 7,000 videos to the Educast platform, with tens of thousands of minutes of content on various areas of law. The CEJ's IT and eLearning technician explains why the unit has invested in this service FCCN, detailing some of the main added value found in this connection which, he believes, in times of pandemic, will tend to deepen.

The CEJ is currently one of the most prolific users of Educast, with hundreds of videos published. How did this use of Educast come about?

The beginning of the use of Educast was aligned with the strategy of the JTC's management to introduce e-learning in its training environment. Along with the implementation of an e-learning platform and the creation of several Ebooks, there was also the need to find a video platform to host much of the face-to-face training that the JTC delivers every year.

What features of the Educast service make it interesting for these purposes? What do you think are its main strengths?

Of all the features, it should be highlighted the quick editing and availability of the videos and the possibility to do it online on any computer. This allows you to streamline and manage much better the day-to-day work. As is known, video continues to be one of the richest media but also one of the "heaviest", in terms of processing and editing. Educast allows us to turn a task that was previously "Dantesque" into something simple and fast.

The content published by CEJ also enriches the Educast portal. How would you describe the collection of videos on sobrsie Direito that are thus made available to the general public? Are there any examples that you would like to highlight?

At this point in time, given the size of the collection already registered by the CEJ, it is difficult to highlight just one content. The true wealth of our video collection is not only measured by the number of views, but by the usefulness of each of the videos in the work of the legal community. As an analogy, we can say that the videos serve as a collection of Doctrine books that can be used when it is of use.

How do you foresee the evolution of the relationship between the JTC and Educast?

Taking into account the exceptional moment in which we currently find ourselves, with the pandemic situation, I believe that the relationship between the CEJ and Educast will only tend to increase. If it was already natural to use new media in training, now it becomes inevitable, with the need to have means of providing synchronous and asynchronous content at a distance. And, on this last point, Educast is king!
