The educast service boasts a set of unique features geared toward the academic community, compared to other services. These include: synchronous recording and playback of the speaker and their presentation, online content editing that allows for selecting and highlighting portions of the video for new content, integration with distance learning tools, explicit usage rights through Creative Commons, content exposure on open education repository networks, and controlled access to content via "RCTSaai." This infrastructure is also hosted in the FCCN data center and is therefore not subject to any restrictions imposed by foreign commercial services.
