THE Arquivo.pt is the digital service of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), developed by FCCN, responsible for preserving pages and websites since 1996. Here, anyone can research the past of web Portuguese.

In addition to archiving, this service also allows everyone to “travel in time” through exhibitions online Arquivo.pt, collections of preserved pages from the past, each dedicated to a special theme or era.

These exhibitions online allow us to revisit moments in the history of an institution, country, and/or world, making digital memories accessible to everyone that would otherwise be lost. They are constructed from pages web archived over the years and, in this way, allows the user to browse old versions of websites that witnessed events relevant to Portuguese society.

From democracy to music in one place

Among the dozens of online exhibitions available on the Arquivo.pt website, the one dedicated to 50 years of April 25th, which revisits some historical events since the Carnation Revolution.
