After this year's edition on the island of Madeira, the Jornadas FCCN 2025 are taking place in what is known as the city of knowledge and students: Coimbra. The meeting of the national higher education and research community will take place on May 6, 7 and 8 next year.

The meeting will have the close support of the University of Coimbra, the oldest in the country.

The announcement of the 2025 edition

The community that follows the meeting learned the location and date of the next edition at the closing session of the Jornadas FCCN 2024, which was attended by representatives of the University of Coimbra who will be part of the team organizing the next edition.

A video presentation of the University and the city was also unveiled, which included a message from Amílcar Falcão, rector of the University of Coimbra.

The future host said a few words about the reception of this event, highlighting its importance at a national level and the added value of holding it in Coimbra in 2025: "This event has proved to be an essential meeting over the last few years for sharing information, good practices and technological knowledge," said Amílcar Falcão.

"It is with particular interest that in 2025 we will host the Jornadas da FCCN, a forum of the utmost relevance in reflecting on critical and constantly updated areas such as connectivity, computing, knowledge sharing and security," he added.

What to expect from the Days FCCN 2025

During the three days of the initiative, hundreds of people are expected to attend the students' city, with the hope of surpassing the turnout of 2024, which saw 641 registrations. In this way, the meeting is also expected to be closer to the student community, who will be able to take part in the initiative as volunteers or participants.

The Jornadas FCCN will also have a positive impact on the region itself, by boosting the local economy and commerce, particularly the hotel industry. The Days also promise to bring participants closer to the culture of the region, with activities that will take them to various places of interest.

The Days FCCN over the years

With 15 editions already under its belt, this initiative has attracted more than 5,600 participants, around 400 speakers and more than 230 sponsors over the years.

These figures make the Jornadas FCCN the annual meeting point for the various communities of managers and users of the advanced computing, communication and other digital services platforms made available by the Foundation for Science and Technology through FCCN.

The event is aimed at those responsible for the IT, library, documentation and/or archive services of HEIs, decision-makers and institutional leaders with these responsibilities and those responsible for implementing science and research units.

For three days, in a different region each year, the meeting opens up and promotes dialog on topics related to FCCN's areas of activity: Connectivity, Computing, Collaboration, Knowledge and Security.

More information about the next edition will be available soon.
