The awards ceremony took place on July 5th, at the Science 2024 Meeting. The winners of the Arquivo.pt Award 2024 were announced by Jornal Público, the official communications partner for this edition.
It was in the Science Meeting 2024, at Porto Customs, where the best entries for this year's Arquivo.pt Award received their awards. The 2024 edition had 27 entries, with three top-ranked entries and three honorable mentions awarded by the newspaper Público, the Aveiro Media Competence Center, and .PT.
The initiative aims to annually distinguish works that use information preserved by Arquivo.pt – FCT digital service, developed through FCCN, which allows you to search and access web pages archived since 1996.
1st place: News – Challenging perceptions
The first place winner, which raised 10,000 euros, was the work “Newsworthy – Challenging perceptions”, developed by Carmen Fonseca and António Ramiro (Cubbo Team).
The project consisted of creating a platform where users can compare media coverage on various topics through a game. It also allows users to explore trends over time through an analytical tool.

2nd place: “Habitação.NET: A vision of the Housing Market in Portugal”
The prize of 3,000 euros and the distinction of second place in the competition was given to Diogo Gonçalves with his work “Housing.NET: An overview of the housing market in Portugal”
Using a tool that allows users to interactively explore the evolution of the average value of the Portuguese housing and rental market, the project provides context with published news on the topic and housing policies.

3rd place: Pegada Lusa
With a prize of 2,000 euros, the project “Portuguese Footprint”, developed by Diana Costa and Sérgio Teixeira, completed the podium with third place.
The project shows the evolution of sustainable policies and initiatives in the different regions of the country, based on the analysis of projects and good practices of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Arquivo.pt Award also awards three honorable mentions
Honorable mention Público Newspaper
THE Public, official partner of the 7th edition of the Arquivo.pt Award, awarded its honorable mention to the work “A journey through time with Público and Expresso”, directed by Rita Marques Costa and Beatriz Malveiro Jorge.
By analyzing and comparing the websites of Público and Expresso since 1998, the project shows how the digital versions of these media outlets have evolved over time.

Honorable Mention AMCC – Aveiro Media Competence Center
The second honorable mention was awarded by Aveiro Media Competence Center (AMCC) to work “disagree: the Proximity of the Parties in the Assembly of the Republic”, created by Miguel Salema and Sebastião Fonte. These developers created an app that shows the proximity between political parties, using votes in the Portuguese National Assembly.

Honorable Mention .PT
THE DNS.PT Association awarded an Honorable Mention to the Professor who encouraged the submission of the work “ArquivoNC – the web archive of the Jornal de Notícias da Covilhã”, thus promoting the use of Arquivo.pt as a training and learning tool in the classroom context.
The work was authored by student Rodrigo Dias da Silva, supervised by Professor Ricardo Campos, from the University of Beira Interior (UBI).

Arquivo.pt Award 2025 is now confirmed
The next edition of the Arquivo.pt Prize has already been announced, meaning that in 2025 there will be new prizes for the best work developed using the Arquivo.pt Prize.
