It emerged in 2015 with the mission of promoting the interoperability between scientific information systems, ensuring more efficient, transparent and integrated management of data relating to science produced in Portugal.

In 2025, the PTCRIS, digital service of Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), developed by FCCN, marks ten years of activity, having consolidated itself over this decade as the national platform for scientific interoperability, connecting people, institutions and systems, and integrating various services and solutions.

Second Cátia Laranjeira, manager of this digital solution: "Over the last ten years, the PTCRIS has been a driving force in building a more transparent and collaborative scientific ecosystem. — a collective effort that brings together people, ideas, and systems to better understand the science being done in Portugal, with increasingly reliable and accurate data.”

Through the integration of different platforms and services – among which the following stand out: CIÊNCIAVITAEthe Institutional Indicators Service (SII) and the Sciproj Portal PTCRIS has been reinforcing the capacity of the national scientific and technological system to manage, analyze and value information about research activity.

This collaborative approach also contributed to to increase transparency in the use of public resources and the international projection of Portuguese science, and has been instrumental in reducing redundancies, simplifying administrative processes, and strengthening the reliability and visibility of national scientific information.

“Celebrating 10 years of PTCRIS is to recognize a decade of innovation, interoperability and commitment to efficient science management. The milestones achieved demonstrate that Portugal is at the forefront of science information management, with solutions that…” They give time back to science, promote transparency in public funding, and enhance the international visibility of our researchers.”, he adds João MoreiraArea director at FCCN, digital services unit of FCT.

Reflecting further on the future of the solution, João Moreira states that the service “It will continue to be built on collaboration, technology, and the ambition to better serve the community. of teaching, research and innovation.” Cátia Laranjeira, on the other hand, “projects a future based on a community of best practices, value-added services and on Integrating artificial intelligence to promote transparency and knowledge about scientific activity.”.
