The Portuguese web preservation service now includes two new features: viewing with an old browser and exporting search results.
On July 1st, Arquivo.pt launched its new version—called Responsive—which includes several new features. The goal is to improve the user experience across different devices.
The first new feature concerns the inclusion of an option that allows you to view the preserved page using a browser from the past. This functionality is made possible by redirecting to the oldweb.today service that emulates browsers from the past such as Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Internet Explorer or the NSCA Mosaic.
In this way, Arquivo.pt highlights, it is possible to access “the original visual appearance of a page from the past in the most faithful way possible”.
Furthermore, the new version of Arquivo.pt now also allows you to export search results for further processing and analysis. This feature may be especially useful for researchers analyzing a specific topic in detail.
The functionality is available in “Options”, and you must choose the desired file format: XLSX, CSV or TXT.
These new features come after Arquivo.pt presented a responsive 100% version adapted to mobile devices, with a simplified interface.
