The award that recognizes innovative uses of information preserved on Arquivo.pt is back in 2023. A total of €15,000 in prizes will be awarded.

The sixth edition of the Arquivo.pt Award has been officially launched, on January 23, for this service of the FCCN Unit that preserves online information collected from the web since 1996. Applications are open until May 4th.

The challenge, open to all interested parties, is simple: submit a work, carried out individually or in a group, on any topic, as long as the Arquivo.pt be the main source of information. In 2022, the work “Parliament Archives”, created by Tiago Santos, was the big winner.

In addition to three prizes – worth €10,000, €3,000, and €2,000 – the 2023 Arquivo.pt Prize also includes two honorable mentions. One will be awarded by Jornal Público (for works based on content from this newspaper preserved on Arquivo.pt) and another by Aveiro Media Competence Center (works that focus on the web archive of one or more century-old newspapers made available by this platform).

Details on how to submit applications are available at arquivo.pt/premio2023.
