From May 19th to 22nd, Lisbon will host a conference that brings together the Open edX community to discuss the current state of this online learning platform, as well as research projects, best practices, and new collaborative approaches.
The Foundation for Science and Technology and the Nova School of Business and Economics (SBE) are co-hosts of this international conference whose theme will be, this year, dedicated “to the future of work and the use of open technology to solve challenges”, explains edX on its website.
Some of these challenges, which will be addressed during these three days, concern the qualification, requalification and lifelong learning needs.
Founded by Harvard University and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in 2012, edX is the non-profit organization responsible for software open-source to promote massive open online courses used in universities around the world, with around 14 million registered students.
The program of this annual conference includes several case studies of innovative use of technologies in higher education, companies, and government agencies. Furthermore, it will be possible to learn about the main developments regarding course production on the Open edX platform and the main methodologies used.
