October marks European Cybersecurity Month, which aims to raise awareness of the risks of a lack of data protection and the failure to adopt behaviors that hinder attacks on digital assets. The FCCN Unit of the Foundation for Science and Technology is participating in this event and will share some best practices.
Protecting digital information, devices, and resources such as accounts, files, photos, and even money is the main objective of cybersecurity, which takes center stage throughout Europe throughout October. Throughout the month, the FCCN Unit will participate in this coordinated initiative. ANDNISA and by the European Commission, seeking to raise awareness of the importance of cybersecurity.
This way, through social media, the FCCN Unit's digital community will have access to information and best practices to ensure data and device security. This content will be produced by the FCCN team. RCTS CERT – the cybersecurity service of the National Education and Science Network (RCTS), which protects higher education and research institutions.
Become a hero!
In 2023, the FCCN Unit will once again join the GÉANT campaign “Become a Cyber Hero”, participating in the dissemination of content, resources and events shared by the European community of national education and research networks.
This year, the campaign incorporates four areas of action. In addition to sharing cybersecurity tips and best practices, the initiative includes sharing opinions from waitwGÉANT community analysts on how to make Education and Research more resilient to cybercrime.
One of the new features in 2023 will be the "Cybercrime for Beginners" section, which will feature weekly episodes that allow viewers to "get inside the mind of a hacker."
Finally, the “Become a Cyber Hero” campaign also includes a webinar program These are cybersecurity events focusing on specific topics within this area, taking place on October 5, 12, 19, and 24. Thanks to a collaboration with RedClara, these events will have simultaneous translation into English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
