THE Arquivo.pt, digital service of Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), developed by FCCN, presents a new functionality that allows access content played in Flash.

The new version of the service, called Isis, now guarantees the reproduction of animations and interactive content in Flash, which seemed to have disappeared. This discontinued technology was used in the early years of Internet, for the production of animations, mobile and desktop applications, games and video players embedded in the browser Web. However, it has become obsolete and current browsers, such as Google or the Edge, stopped supporting it, preventing the viewing of these contents.

The system Ruffle, an emulator of the software Flash Player, used in the new version of Arquivo.pt, allows access to content produced by outdated tools.

Accessing Flash sites is now possible on Arquivo.pt, both before and after using Ruffle. These platforms were created to be viewed on static, desktop computers, so they may have limitations on mobile devices.

All information about the new feature of Arquivo.pt is available on the service website.
