THE PUB IN Meeting – journals and scientific communication for open science -, took place on June 19th, at the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering, in Lisbon. This was an event organized by FCCN, digital services of the Foundation for Science and Technology, and the University of Minho, Documentation and Library Services, as well as financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
Composed of thematic panels, workshops, among other highlights, the participation in the Meeting exceeded the organization's expectations, bringing together more than 120 people belonging to the national publishing community.

The sessions helped to enhance the development of technical skills, capitalize on knowledge, and promote the sharing of best practices and innovation in open access science publishing and communication. Furthermore, several discussion sessions took place throughout the day. networking between participants, which allowed for closer relationships and sharing contacts.
2025 edition is already confirmed
At the final moment of the initiative, João Mendes Moreira, Director of the Scientific Knowledge Area at FCCN, digital services of FCT and Eloy Rodrigues, Director of Documentation and Library Services at the University of Minho, took stock of this first meeting, which, according to both, proved necessary and exceeded expectations. Those responsible also announced the second edition of the initiative, in 2025, the date and other information of which will be announced shortly.
“Given the success of this event and after consulting with colleagues on the organizing committee, I am pleased to announce that we will have a new edition,” he announced. João Mendes Moreira at the closing session of the 1st PUB IN Meeting.
Eloy Rodrigues thanked "To everyone who participated in this event, which was well attended. We feel like we're entering a new community, with new energy and many questions." He added: “We had more than 120 people present and this is yet another sign that this event was necessary”.

The period for expressions of interest to receive the initiative in 2025 is now open.
At the end of the meeting, João Mendes Moreira launched the challenge to potential entities that could host the meeting next year: "Also considering that we don't like to hold centralized events, we ask institutions to express their interest in hosting this event."
