The official opening ceremony for applications will take place on 16 January in the Auditorium of the Público newspaper in Lisbon.

This launch of the 2020 edition of the Arquivo.pt Prize will include the interventions of the President of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Helena Pereira, the Director of Público, Manuel Carvalho, as well as the manager of Arquivo.pt, Daniel Gomes. The ceremony will end with a visit to the newspaper's newsroom.

With free entrance (limited to the space's capacity), the event will serve as a presentation of the Arquivo.pt Prize 2020 - the award that aims to distinguish innovative and/or useful uses for society of the archives preserved in Arquivo.pt, with a total of 15 thousand euros in prizes.

The 2020 edition has the support of the Público newspaper , and the works based on content published by the daily newspaper will receive an Honourable Mention that includes an annual subscription to the newspaper and a set of publications.

Applications are open until May 4, requiring the submission of a description of the work (up to 2000 words) and a short video (maximum three minutes in length).
