The year 2021 begins with the approval of an application from the FCCN Unit to the Public Administration Digital Transformation Support System (SAMA). This proposal aims to implement strategic developments in the areas of Science Management and Open Science. will result in increased financing for projects PTCRISRCAAP and b-on.

In total, the guaranteed financing is around 825 thousand euros, with one of the main focuses being on research data management. In this sense, the application foresees the provision of infrastructure and services to the teaching and research community, with a view to sharing research results in data repositories suitable for this purpose.

Still in the field of support for scientific activity, the approved application provides for the implementation of a national science and technology funding registry (SciPROJ), with the goal of aggregating national funding into a single database, under an open data regime. This will encourage the sharing and reuse of this information. Another open data resource to be created concerns implementation of a national registry of outputs of science and technology, with the aim of aggregating them into a single database.

The now approved application will also act in the field of business intelligence, by producing indicators that support management and decision-making processes, based on national publication and funding records. Finally, another objective is to promotion of the open access policy to research results funded by the FCT. This step is seen as strategic for increasing the potential impact of the funded research.
