The service provided by RCAAP – Open Access Scientific Repositories of Portugal recorded “very encouraging numbers” in the first quarter of 2022.
THE Common Repository, a service provided by RCAAP, reached in the first quarter of 2022 more than 34 thousand documents. This is a repository intended for institutions in the national scientific system that do not have their own institutional repository, allowing them to give visibility to their institution and its scientific production, guarantee easy access to scientific content, and preserve their production.
Through this service managed by the FCCN Unit, researchers can store and make accessible your scientific production (published articles, communications accepted and published at conferences, doctoral theses and master's dissertations approved at the institution, among others).
According to data from the Directorate-General for Education and Science Statistics (DGEEC), at the end of the same period, the overall rate of completion of the deposit of theses and dissertations in the Common Repository reached 83,16%.
This value highlights the importance of the Common Repository in terms of compliance with the legal deposit of Theses and Dissertations.
With 90 participating institutions, the Common Repository has seen significant growth in downloads over the past decade. 2021 was the year that saw a record number of downloads, with approximately 3 million.
On your blog, the RCAAP classifies these numbers as "very encouraging," considering that this is "a shared service," highlighting the "commitment of each institution." You can learn more about the Common Repository on the website: https://comum.rcaap.pt/
