THE webinar “Open Science in Expansion: New Models, Assessment and Open Data”, brought together more than 300 participants in a debate dedicated to scientific activity conducted in an open, collaborative, and transparent manner, a practice that facilitates the sharing and communication of processes and results. recording of the session and the presentation are now available for anyone who wants to view or rewatch them.
This initiative, part of the celebrations of International Open Science Week, was attended by several members of the Open Science team of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), the FCCN digital services unit, and the Co-Chair of the newly created National Chapter from the CoARA.
During the online session, speakers and the audience reviewed the work developed in this field to date, highlighting some indicators and new developments. Also discussed were New Models of Scientific Communication, the Diamond Initiative, and the theme of Research Assessment and the National Open Science and Open Research Data Program, a measure integrated into the investment RE-C05-i08 – More Digital Science, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
The main objective of the webinar was to raise awareness and promote Open Science practices among researchers, science managers, students and the general public, which was very well received and praised by all participants.
Upcoming Initiatives
As usual, the next edition of the International Open Science Week, in 2025, will feature a new session dedicated to the topic and led by the FCT.
Until then, this topic will remain under debate at various events. Also in 2024, the 11th GDI Forum – Research Data Management, between November 21st and 22nd, at the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu. In 2025, the 16th Lusophone Open Science Conference (ConfOA), the 2nd PubIn Meeting and the FCCN Conference 2025 also bring Open Science to the stage.
