THE second edition of the MOOC “Supercomputing” is about to arrive at NAU platform, with a fully updated and interactive which reinforces the commitment of the Advanced Computing service of FCCN, the digital services unit of the Foundation for Science and Technology, to continue promoting digital literacy and access to knowledge about high-performance computing (HPC), Explaining in an accessible way how supercomputers support science, innovation, and digital transformation.
In an initiative within the scope of EuroCC ProjectThe MOOC is aimed at students, researchers and professionals from different fields, but will once again be open to the general public free of charge.
This new edition features a renovated structure, Updated content, practical examples, and new expert testimonials., with modules that introduce the essential concepts of supercomputing, explore its practical applications, and show how advanced computing helps transform the way science, innovation, and technological development are done, in Portugal and around the world.
Among the new features of this edition, the inclusion of... stands out. new modules and content dedicated to national supercomputing infrastructuresfeaturing systems such as Deucalion, Portuguese participation in the Catalan supercomputer MareNostrum 5 and other resources of National Center for Advanced Computing (CNCA).
The course also delves into the connection between HPC and artificial intelligence, addressing topics in an accessible way such as large-scale language models (LLMs) and the future of Generative AI and provides an introductory exploration of quantum computing, addressing their fundamental concepts, potential and challenges...and explaining how this emerging technology could complement HPC in the future.
