Service Manager
The service POLLEN created in 2022 by FCCN, the digital services unit of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), aims to meet the needs of the scientific and educational community in the area of Research Data Management (IDM). It also aims to promote the principles and practice of Open Science, ensuring the sharing and preservation of research data generated within the scope of publicly funded projects.
The project is based on 5 interconnected action areas:
- Governance and policies, aiming at defining a strategy for GDI and adopting a policy on the management and sharing of data resulting from research funded by the FCT.
- Services and infrastructure, providing the community with resources for effective management and sharing of research data, including:
- POLEN Blueprint, for the creation and management of Data Management Plans;
- POLEN Sync, for data synchronization and sharing;
- POLEN DataHub, a repository dedicated to the storage, preservation, and sharing of research data.
- Communication, dissemination and training, promoting the adoption of the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable data) and Open Science. These activities also aim to publicize the implemented services, provide informational materials, and promote training and capacity-building activities.
- Convergence with national and international initiatives relevant in the area of GDI and Open Science.
- National Network to Support GDI, monitoring and participating in their respective strategies.
