THE The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has opened new applications for the 5th Advanced Computing Projects Competition, intended for accesses A2 and A3. Candidates must submit applications from January 16th to March 11th. The initiative aims to consolidate Portugal as a relevant player in the European advanced computing landscape, offering opportunities for researchers and institutions to explore innovative computational resources. 
 
This year's edition of Advanced Computing Project Competition has a news: a single form for submitting proposals for projects of type A2 or A3, whether by fast track or by full route, simplifying the process for applicants. Each person responsible can submit one application for each category.  

  • Fast Track: Intended for projects with prior scientific evaluation carried out in the last three years. Publication of results is scheduled for April 2025.
  • Full Way: For projects without recent scientific evaluation, which will be evaluated by external experts within the scope of the competition. The results of this route are expected to June 2025, after completion of all stages of the scientific evaluation.

Overall, this competition aims to continue airforce the use of advanced computing resources on platforms such as Deucalion, enhancing national projects with high scientific, technological and innovative impact

Deadlines

  • Opening of applications: January 16, 2025, from 1 pm (Lisbon time). 
  • Closing: March 11, 2025, until 5:00 p.m. (Lisbon time) 

Clarification session 

To support the candidates, a online clarification session on the day January 23rd, at 12pm. Prior registration for the session must be done at platform for the session.  

At the same time, applications for the accesses A0 (Experimental) and A1 (Development) remain open continuously, organized in several batches throughout the year. Currently underway are applications for Lot C, with deadline until March 18th. For more information, information session dedicated to these accesses A0 and A1 remains available.
