The team responsible for managing the Deucalion was present at the EuroHPC Summit 2025, that took place of March 18-20 in Krakow, Poland. The event featured two presentations focused on the advanced capabilities of the Portuguese supercomputer.
The first presentation highlighted the application of Large-Scale Language Models (LLMs) for analysis and prediction tasks, specifically using models Deepseek and Llama3. These models use deep learning techniques to generate insights based on data, improving predictive capacity and informing decision-making in various areas.
The focus of the second presentation was the model of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation, which applies physical principles to simulate fluid flow, temperature distribution, and pressure within systems. This mechanism provides valuable insights for optimizing engineering designs and solving complex fluid-related challenges.
THE EuroHPC Summit and the annual meeting that brings together the main European players in the field of High Performance Computing (HPC). The participation of Deucalion at the event promotes the versatility of the Portuguese supercomputer and its key role in fostering innovation in the European advanced computing ecosystem.
Opened in September 2023, the Deucalion it is a system petascale capable of performing more than 10 petaflops, i.e, 10 million trillion calculations per second, provided by Fujitsu Technology Solutions. It is a unique EuroHPC supercomputer, combining ARM A64FX processors with technology Bull Sequana, made available by Evidence, the advanced computing division of Atos.
