Discover the technological possibilities offered by the RCTSaai service – through a single login, access all the tools made available by the FCCN Unit to the entire RCTS community*.
“A single key for all services” is how the RCTSaai service describes its main purpose. At the heart of this possibility is federated authentication technology – or single sign-on – what allows users to access, just by inserting a single credential and securely, to all services that are part of the RCTS universe.
This capability is guaranteed by the RCTSaai infrastructure, which is responsible for user authentication and authorization, simplifying the provision of services to the entire RCTS community. Thus, in practical terms, Students, teachers, staff or researchers from participating institutions can use their institutional account to access this list of services.
Educast, eduroam, Colibri, Filesender, Videocast or b-on are just some examples of services made available through this technology. All RCTS teaching or research institutions can join this structure, there are several types of membership that can be known here.
National Federation, Worldwide Connection
Since 2016, the possibility of federated authentication connected to the RCTS network has grown exponentially. This growth was due to the implementation of the project eduGAIN by GÉANT. Through this possibility, the participating institutions guarantee interconnection with other federations worldwide.
In this way, through eduGAIN, it is possible for users access services provided by other federations and managed by other national education and research networks, provided that your institution is a member of the RCTS Identity Federation.
The possibility of configuring the eduroam network (CAT), access to a videoconferencing room testing system (eduCONF) or a support service for identifying and contracting the best services cloud are just a few examples.

*What is the Science, Technology and Society Network?
One of the missions of the National Scientific Computing Unit (FCCN Unit) of the Foundation for Science and Technology is to provide connectivity services for higher education stakeholders: professors, students, researchers, and senior technicians. As such, the FCCN Unit energizes the national academic and scientific network, which has already been joined by more than 80 higher education institutions (you can check the full list here). Members of participating institutions can access the various tools available through federated authentication. For more information, visit: https://www.fccn.pt/institucional/rcts/
