"SavePageNow" and "Arquivo404" join the range of services offered by Arquivo.pt in its mission to preserve information published on the web. Learn more about these two tools available to you.
In early 2022, the Arquivo.pt released a new version that included a new service – the SavePageNowUsing this tool, anyone can save a web page to be preserved by Arquivo.pt. To do so, simply enter the page address and browse its contents.
This new Arquivo.pt service was inspired by a project created by Internet Archive, allowing all Internet users to contribute to the preservation of important information that is published online. You can find out more about this Arquivo.pt service online.
Another service launched in 2022 by Arquivo.pt seeks to respond to another need – to offer a solution to “Error 404 – Page not found” messages that can appear on any website. Through file404, this problem can be easily solved, simply insert a single line of code into the page that generates the error message.
Thanks to this solution, when a user attempts to access a page that isn't available on a website, Arquivo404 "automatically checks whether a preserved version of that page exists," explains Arquivo.pt on its website. If such a version exists, a link to it is displayed.
