Mobility without borders
eduroam (Education Roaming) is a mobility service developed for the international teaching and research community.
This service guarantees secure internet access for students, faculty, researchers, and institutional staff through the wireless network of their institution or any participating institution they are visiting.
This means that whether at their home institution or when visiting other institutions, users have secure access using their usual login.
eduroam is uninterrupted and secure Wi-Fi access worldwide.
Who is it intended for?
Especially to teachers, researchers and students.
About eduroam
Participating institutions offer their users the ability to access eduroam through their institutional accounts. This means, for example, that a professor at a Portuguese university can use their username and password to access the Wi-Fi network of another university, whether Portuguese or foreign, as long as both institutions are members of eduroam.
The service is based on the most secure authentication and encryption standards currently available. It's a secure technology that guarantees user privacy, as authentication on eduroam is always performed at the user's home institution.
There are more than 26,000 eduroam hotspots available at universities and research centers in over 100 countries worldwide. In Portugal, access to eduroam is largely provided by higher education and research institutions.
Consult the eduroam map (national and global) available on the website www.eduroam.pt to identify where you can connect.
