The Minho Advanced Computing Center (MACC) is organizing a training course on “Introduction to the HPC Programming Environment”, which will take place online, between November 22nd and 24th, 2021.

This course introduces the HPC programming environment, programming multi-threaded (OpenMP) and the distributed memory model, using MPI to develop large-scale scientific applications.

The course is intended for non-computer specialists, researchers or employees of private companies or public administration, who need HPC resources on a daily basis, but are not familiar with HPC environments (access, use and programming).

The course material will cover:

● An overview of an HPC environment, such as accessing the system, preparing jobs for execution, submitting jobs for execution, sending and retrieving data from the HPC system;

● Basic programming techniques for these types of systems, using OpenMP and MPI frameworks.

Participation is subject to evaluation by the course organization, regarding compliance with the C/C++ programming requirements and basic Linux commands.

The course will be taught in English, unless all registrants speak Portuguese. All support materials will be in English.

Registration for this event is open until November 14, 2021.

The course is limited to 40 participants.
