Initiative of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (AICIB) supports research projects with 1.8 million euros.

The "Research 4 Covid-19" project was created to fund research and development projects and initiatives that meet the needs of the National Health Service (NHS) in its intervention to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

FCT now reveals the result of this support. In total, 66 research projects will be funded. The overall investment is 1.8 million euros that come from national funds, through the FCT's own budget.

A common condition has been outlined for all 66 funded projects: all must deliver results within a short period of time, up to a maximum of three months. The list can be found here.

Applications were open from 24 March to 5 April. FCT foresees the eventual creation of a second application period, depending on the evolution of the situation. This context will be evaluated one month after the closing of the first phase.
