Another upgrade of RCTS access to the GÉANT network was carried out, with the connection now guaranteed 40 Gigabits per second (Gbps).
With this increase in capacity, achieved during the month of January, the connection goes from 30 to 40 Gbps, both on the primary and backup connections. The upgrade ensures the quality of the service provided, taking into account the growth in data network usage.
This upgrade coincided with the activation of a new international router, which now provides multiple ports at 100 Gbps in order to support the growth of RCTS's international connections.
THE RCTS – Science, Technology and Society Network – is the national research and teaching network, also internationally designated as NREN (National Research and Education Network).
Managed and operated by the FCCN Unit of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), RCTS offers researchers, teachers and students a high-performance digital infrastructure that supports the connectivity of the projects they develop nationally and internationally.
