Discover the technological possibilities offered by the RCTSaai service - through a single login, you can access all the tools made available by the Unit FCCN to the entire RCTS community*.

"A single key for all services" is how the RCTSaai service describes its main object. At the base of this possibility, we find the technology of federated authentication - or single sign-on - that allows users to access, with just the insertion of a single credential and securely, to all services that are part of the RCTS universe.

This capability is guaranteed by the RCTSaai infrastructure, which is responsible for authentication and authorization of users, simplifying the provision of services to the entire RCTS community. Thus, in practical terms, students, teachers, employees or researchers from member institutions can use their institutional account to access this list of services.

Educast, eduroam, Colibri, Filesender, Videocast or b-on are just some of the examples of services available through this technology. All RCTS teaching or research institutions can join this structure, and there are several membership modalities that can be known here.

National federation, global connection
Since 2016, the possibility of federated authentication connected to the RCTS network has grown exponentially. This growth is due to the implementation of the eduGAIN project by GÉANT. Through this possibility, member institutions guarantee an interconnection to other federations worldwide.

Thus, through eduGAIN, users can access services provided by other federations and managed by other national education and research networks, as long as their institution is a member of the RCTS Identity Federation.

The possibility of configuring the eduroam network (CAT), access to a videoconference room testing system (eduCONF) or a support service for identifying and contracting the best cloud services are just a few examples.

What is the Science Technology and Society Network?

One of the missions of the National Scientific Computing Unit (Unidade FCCN) of the Foundation for Science and Technology is to provide connectivity services for the main players in higher education: teachers, students, researchers and senior technicians. As such, the FCCN Unit boosts the national academic and scientific network, to which more than 80 higher education institutions have already joined(you can consult the full list here). Through federated authentication, members of the member institutions can access the various tools made available. For more information, visit:
