What is the Eduroam Network?
The main objective of the eduroam (Education Roaming) network is to provide the academic community with a wireless network service, available between participating institutions.

Who can join the Eduroam network?
All institutions connected to the RCTS network (RCTS IP Service) can join.

What are the costs of this service?
There are no additional costs for entities subscribing to the RCTS IP service.

Which institutions are currently using Eduroam?
The eduroam network is currently available in 76 countries. In Portugal, 61 institutions have joined this service. Almost all educational institutions and state laboratories in Portugal offer access to this network. The list of locations can be found here.

How is authentication performed on the Eduroam network?
Authentication is performed at the user's home institution, using their institutional credentials.

What devices can be used on the Eduroam network?
Any mobile device (laptop/phone/tablet) can be used to connect to the eduroam network.

What rates does the RCTS Plus service offer?
Virtual private network ports can be configured at 100Mbps, 1Gbps, or 10Gbps.

What is RCTS IP?
RCTS IP is the oldest service provided by FCCN and guarantees IP connectivity between RCTS institutions and the Internet.

Who can access RCTS IP?
The types of organizations eligible for access to RCTS IP are defined in the "RCTS AUP" document. Essentially, these include all organizations that carry out teaching and/or scientific research activities.

What speeds does the RCTS IP service provide?
Between 100Mbps and 10Gbps. These speeds are synchronous, meaning the transmission capacity is equal to the data reception capacity.

Can I receive RCTS IP service in two geographically distinct locations?
These situations always require analysis of the requirements and are analyzed individually.
