THE Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), through the digital services unit, FCCN, the Center for Planning and Evaluation of Public Policies (PLANAPP) and the National Innovation Agency (ANI) launch a joint initiative to develop the National Strategy for Emerging Technologies, with the aim of guiding investment and innovation in Portugal in the coming decades.
Experts, researchers and professionals with activity or interest in the areas of Biotechnology, Advanced Materials or Quantum Technologiesare invited to join this collaborative effortand the actively contribute to defining strategic priorities that will guide the future of technological innovation in Portugal. This construction process aims to be open, collaborative and actively involve relevant agents in the debate on the role of emerging technologies in the country's scientific, economic and social development.
THE National Strategy for Emerging Technologies was presented in the Science 2025 meeting, on July 10, in three sessions dedicated to Strategic Priorities for Portugalin those areas.
The sessions were attended by several spokespersons, including General Coordinator of FCCN, João Nuno Ferreira, where they discussed the dissemination of Strategy construction process, the mobilization of scientific, technological and business community, as well as the collection of contributions and identification of interested partiesto join the Strategy working group.
These meetings also allowed the discussion to open up to various points regarding the impact of emerging technologies on the future of Portugal, the importance of a national strategy to guide priorities and investments, and the specific challenges and opportunities of each technological area.
