In the days November 27th and 28th, the The 12th edition of the Research Data Management Forum (GDI) brought together around 180 participants from various educational and research institutions at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança.With the participation of several speakers, the event encouraged debate on research data management, the development of technical skills, and the promotion of knowledge about national and global initiatives in this area.
For two days, the community of researchers, science managers, data stewards, librarians, information and systems technicians, managers and students, participated in the sessions flash talks and a poster presentation, where several relevant projects in this area were showcased.
The program included a session dedicated to the results of the National Program for Open Science and Open Research Data (PNCADAI), funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan, a thematic panel dedicated to the implementation of Open Science policies and strategies for the management and opening of research data. In addition, a round table discussion took place on career paths and skills in research data management. workshops, as well as a session dedicated to the activities of the GDI Forum working groups.
In parallel, the 3rd meeting of the National Interest Group dedicated to Open Science policies and GDI strategies was held.
Filipa Pereira, manager of POLLENThe FCT's digital service, developed by FCCN and co-organizer of the event, highlights that "this year's Forum was the largest ever, both in terms of the number of participants and activities. It was possible to notice an increasing number of people whose work is directly related to GDI, which demonstrates the high need for institutions to keep up with progress in this area. The extraordinary work carried out by the Centers for GDI and the Re.Data Consortium is also noteworthy."

For the next edition of the GDI Forum, to be held in 2026, the organization promises to maintain its commitment to an equally rich and diverse format, showcasing innovative projects and promoting an environment for sharing experiences and exchanging ideas on best practices.
