Open Research Europe (ORE), the European platform for open access scientific publishing supported by the European Commission, will enter a new phase in the autumn of 2026. In this context, applications are now open to join the platform. Scientific Advisory Board, a scientifically based advisory structure, whose establishment is planned for September 2026.
Applications are open until July 10, 2026 and must be submitted through application form.
THE Scientific Advisory Board, which will consist of 20 members and has an advisory role for other organizational structures of the project, namely:
- on scientific matters related to the editorial activity of ORE, as well as on ethical guiding principles and the peer review process;
- Regarding the strategic aspects of the platform, including its future direction, sustainability, potential new services, and collaboration opportunities;
- regarding cases of misconduct and issues of transparency.
Who can apply?
We are looking for researchers committed to transparency, fairness, and public access to research. Candidates should:
- to be researchers affiliated with a research institution;
- To demonstrate scientific excellence recognized internationally by the respective community;
- Have experience as an editor of international academic journals or community-led journals;
- Have experience in science communication and audience engagement;
- To have a clear commitment to and alignment with the principles of Open Science and its ongoing transition.
- To declare and be free from any potential conflict of interest.
Experience in science policy, governance, or large-scale initiatives is also valued, as are skills in strategic and systems thinking.
Application requirements
All candidates must submit a concise CV, including up to 10 results that they consider most significant in terms of scientific and/or societal impact, and a cover letter of no more than 500 words.
