THE GÉANT Innovation Programme returns for a new edition, challenging the European research and education community to present ideas capable of shaping the future of technologyThe initiative provides financial support and the resources needed to transform innovative concepts into concrete solutions with scientific, social, and economic impact. 

Common total budget of 300 thousand euros, are intended up to 50 thousand euros per project, although higher value propositions may be considered, as long as they demonstrate relevant impact for the GÉANT community. 

The initiative aims to support early development, proof of concept or testing of new integrated ideas in areas such as Communication networks and infrastructures, Services Above the Net, Identity, Security and Cloud. Projects on other topics of interest to the GÉANT community may also be evaluated. 

Applications until November 14th

The deadline for submissions is 12:00 pm on November 14th, being able to apply for the program National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) members of GÉANT -, in Portugal, the FCCN, the digital services unit of the FCT-, and entities linked to it, including universities, research centers or educational institutions. They are also accepted joint applications, presented by consortia led by NRENs.

Presentation of results at TNC26 

Projects selected for the program will have the opportunity to present your results at TNC26, an event that will take place between June 8th and 12th, in Helsinki, Finland. The session Innovation Program Spotlight will be the time dedicated to these projects, promoting the collaboration and visibility of each initiative. 

Results and impact of previous editions 

Since 2021, they have been supported more than 30 projects in areas such as Multimedia, Networks, Identity, Security, Privacy, Education and Cloud. Some success stories stand out with lasting impact in the community and which originated widely used services, like the eduroam and the eduVPN
