Arquivo.pt, a digital service of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), developed through its FCCN unit, is nominated for the digital heritage safeguarding category.  

This initiative of the DPC – Digital Preservation Coalition celebrates, every two years, work focused on ensuring a sustainable future for digital assets.

Arquivo.pt among the finalists for the Prize for the safeguarding of digital heritage 

The Awards Ceremony takes place in Ghent, Belgium, as part of the meeting program iPres 2024, starting at 4:00 pm, Lisbon time. Daniel Gomes, manager of Arquivo.pt, an infrastructure that preserves digital information published online, will be present at the initiative, representing the FCT. 

In the category in which Arquivo.pt is a finalist Award for Safeguarding the Digital Legacy (award for safeguarding digital heritage), three other projects are also in the running. These focus on topics such as the preservation of journalistic work and cultural heritage in their respective countries. Arquivo.pt is also applying for the award with the Arquivo.pt Catalog of Tools for Digital Preservation.

In October 2023, after 15 years of research and development, Arquivo.pt launched this Catalog of 13 innovative tools to support the preservation of online content at risk, from its acquisition to its dissemination (e.g. research and access, APIs, training, open datasets or exhibitions). 

FCT is honored to see one of its digital services selected for this final, and the winner of this category will receive, in addition to the international projection, a trophy, a certificate of participation and a cash prize worth more than 1000 euros.
