"The role of supercomputers in the digital transition and the competitiveness of organizations and companies" is the motto of the initiative by IAPMEI, the University of Minho, and the Foundation for Science and Technology. The meeting will take place on May 22nd, starting at 2 pm, at the University of Minho.
This Open Knowledge Day aims to inform and raise awareness among the business community, especially SMEs, about the potential of supercomputers in the green and digital transition, and also about the mechanisms of this technology.
The aim is also to discuss the development of artificial intelligence models compatible with the European strategy for promoting competitiveness, materialized in the launch, in a more effective and accelerated way, of more innovative and technologically sophisticated products..
Program Highlights
Professor Francisco Santos, vice-president of the Foundation for Science and Technology, will take the stage at the opening session of the initiative, together with Eugénio Campos Ferreira, vice-rector of the University of Minho and Luís Guerreiro, president of IAPMEI – Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation, IP
At 2:35 pm, this FCT official will present the Deucalion Supercomputer, a joint project between the FCT, developed through FCCN, and the European joint venture EuroHPC.
During the event, visitors will also visit the facilities of this fastest Portuguese supercomputer ever. Located at the University of Minho, it is currently accessible to the entire academic community, businesses, and public administration.
João Nuno Ferreira, general coordinator of FCCN, FCT's digital services, will also be present at the event, participating in the roundtable discussion that will take place at 3:15 p.m. The topic of this moment is “The role of supercomputers in the digital transition and the competitiveness of companies and organizations” and also features the participation of Luís Sarmento, from Inductiva AI, and António Sousa, from the University of Minho.
