The Scientific Computing Unit informs all institutions of the national scientific and higher education system that the period for submitting applications to host the 11th edition of the Scientific Computing Conference.
The Scientific Computing Conference is a conference promoted by the Scientific Computing Unit and already recognized as the main annual meeting place for all those involved in providing advanced infrastructure and services for the higher education and research community. Connectivity, Computing, Collaboration, Knowledge, and Security will be the main topics covered during the presentations, plenary sessions, working meetings, and workshops held over the three-day event.
Institutions interested in hosting the 11th edition of the Scientific Computing Conference must communicate their interest by September 5, 2019, by sending an email to the address c.imagem@fccn.pt, with the following elements:
- Name and brief description of the institution;
- Motivation to host the conference;
- Composition of the local organizing committee (2 to 3 elements) who will be responsible for, in conjunction with the permanent organization FCCN, structuring, planning and organizing the conference;
- Characterization of spaces considering that:
a) An auditorium with capacity for about 400 people;
b) Space(s) are required near the conference venue for holding conferences. coffee breaks and lunches, for the registration of participants;
c) It is desirable to have other rooms/auditoriums with capacity for around 70 to 100 people (to hold parallel sessions);
d) It is desirable to have 1 or 2 pre/during/post event rooms, with capacity for around 20 people, for secretarial and conference support;
It will also be necessary:
- Characterization of existing audio and video services indicating not only the main characteristics of the equipment available in each of the spaces but also the potential resources to operate them;
- Confirmation of availability to, together with the Scientific Computing Unit, ensure logistics activities – aspects related to registrations and coffee breaks participants; suggestions for accommodation, travel and meals for guests; merchandising (folders/backpacks, lanyards and possibly other materials) and also promotional, advertising and signage materials as well as the relationship with potential supporters, suppliers and sponsors;
The FCCN unit will ensure the availability and management of the conference management platform and will monitor the entire event organization process, always seeking the best solutions.
