It is now possible to find out Agenda for the 2026 edition of the FCCN Conference., The annual meeting point for the community responsible for providing advanced digital infrastructure and services for Higher Education and Research in Portugal.
For three days, the city of Porto will host hundreds of professionals from the fields of Science and Technology: Discover the latest innovations in FCT's digital services, developed by FCCN.To share knowledge and discuss the main technological trends that impact the national scientific and academic ecosystem.
The program includes thematic sessions, project presentations, technology demonstrations and various moments of networking among specialists, researchers, technology managers and institutional decision-makers. The 2026 edition takes place between May 5th and 7th, at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto.
The agenda is organized around five main areas: Computing, Collaboration, Connectivity, Knowledge, and Security. Artificial Intelligence is once again taking center stage, with sessions dedicated to presenting projects, initiatives, and sharing experiences that utilize this technology. Among the planned events is also a workshop by IAedu, the FCT service developed by FCCN that aims to democratize the use of AI tools in Higher Education and Research.
May 5th: From Advanced Computing to Open Science
The first day of the event begins with practical sessions dedicated to Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, focusing on topics such as digital certificates and digital identity.
During the afternoon, participants will learn about the latest developments at RCTS, followed by sessions dedicated to Open Science and Advanced Computing. Services such as myFCT and Arquivo.pt will also be highlighted.
The day ends with a social gathering for participants: Happy Hour.
May 6th: the community stage
The second day begins with the Plenary Session, which brings together representatives from FCCN, FCT, and the University of Porto. The session will also include a presentation by Engineer António Murta, the event's Keynote Speaker.
During the morning, one of the most emblematic moments of the Conference also takes place: the FCCN Zapping, which presents the main new features of digital services. This is followed by the Community Zapping, dedicated to sharing innovative projects developed by students, researchers, teachers and professionals from Higher Education institutions.
The afternoon will be dedicated to topics such as science management, FCCN, digital services for education, and e-learning.
Participants conclude the day with a Social Dinner, which in 2026 will take place at the Palácio da Bolsa in Porto.
May 7th: Data, Networks, and Science Communication
The final day of the FCCN Conference will be dedicated to topics such as the eduroam network, research data management, data privacy, and accessibility. web, science communication, as well as VoIP network and multimedia.
Innovation Hub returns to the event.
The 2026 edition will once again feature Innovation Hub, a space dedicated to short presentations from the community. In this format, participants can present projects, ideas, or initiatives in sessions of approximately 15 minutes, promoting a closer and more dynamic sharing experience.
Soon, expressions of interest will be opened for those wishing to join this space.
