Encontro Ciência 2021 is the new edition of the annual meeting of science, technology and innovation in Portugal.
THE event takes place from June 28 to 30, 2021, at the Lisbon Congress Center.
This year the guest country is France, which will actively participate in the program, highlighting the exchange and strong scientific cooperation that exists between the two countries.
The event's theme, "Science that Shapes Tomorrow and Transforms the Economy," sets the tone for the main themes, challenges, and opportunities for science in Portugal and Europe in 2021. From the future of employment to space exploration and climate transition, a variety of topics will be covered to encourage interaction and dialogue among all participants.
Ciência 2021 is organized into different types of sessions, from plenary sessions to thematic sessions, as well as communications, demonstrations and posters. online The six plenary sessions cover the main aspects of the event's central theme, addressing issues of particular relevance in 2021. In the uncertain context associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, topics such as the positioning of science and economics within the Economic Recovery Plan are crucial. These sessions will feature speakers with internationally recognized experience in their respective fields and will include, in particular, Portuguese and French speakers, thus highlighting the event's Portuguese-French collaboration.
The program will also include 26 parallel thematic sessions highlighting international partnerships between universities, companies, and other national entities. Participation by Portuguese R&D institutions will be particularly active online through presentations and demonstrations of R&D activities and posters by doctoral students receiving scholarships funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology.
The Science Meeting 2021 is promoted by FCT in collaboration with Ciência Viva and the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, Youth and Sports, with the institutional support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education.
In this forum, we hope to foster the involvement of researchers, entrepreneurs, students, and the general public, to promote the discussion of ideas and, through a collective effort, prepare the future of Science and Technology, both in Portugal and in Europe.
At the end of the event, close to the closing session, the prizes will be awarded to the winners of the 2021 edition of the Arquivo.pt Award.
