The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), through its FCCN Unit, is promoting the National Survey on Advanced Computing 2023 (INCA 2023). This initiative, primarily aimed at the National Science and Technology System and the National Innovation System, seeks to assess needs and subsequently propose solutions to boost the field of advanced computing in Portugal.

INCA 2023 is an important step toward identifying specific sector needs and guiding the development of public policies aligned with the needs of the scientific and technological community. By collecting comprehensive information, the survey aims to understand scientific computing requirements and identify existing challenges and opportunities to boost research, innovation, and technological development in various areas.

The results of the survey will be used to inform developments in the National Advanced Computing Network, a nationwide computing resources infrastructure, as well as for the review of the National Advanced Computing Strategy, which will take place in 2023.

The survey was implemented in partnership with the Directorate-General for Education and Science Statistics (DGEEC) and the National Innovation Agency (ANI). The involvement of research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) institutions is essential to ensure that public policies are based on a comprehensive and representative view of the sector.

The National Survey on Advanced Computing is requested to be completed by all institutions of the National Science and Technology System, and will be available to be completed online until July 18th at https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/INCA-2023
