From 6 to 9 June, the period leading up to the elections to the European Parliament, the Science Europe, the association of major research funding and implementation organizations, launches the campaign “Vote for Science”. Using the hashtag #Vote4Science, political support for scientific research is advocated in the EU legislative agenda for the next five years.
Campaign based on five commitments
As part of this initiative, the Science Europe calls on candidates for the 2024-2029 elections to the European Parliament and the European Commission to accept five commitments that safeguard the future of European research and innovation.
(I) Investing in society, culture and competitiveness; (II) Freedom of scientific research; (III) Collaboration, openness and equity; (IV) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and (V) Scientific communication are the five pillars in question.
This campaign advocates for science for the benefit of society and scientific research as the cornerstone of its progress and the engine that drives innovation, prosperity, and social, economic, and environmental well-being.
Even more, The aim is to increasingly value the role of science in economic growth and in improving the quality of life of all Europeans. All this to ensure that Europe remains at the forefront of innovation and progress worldwide.
About the Science Europe
Created in October 2011, the Science Europe was created with the aim of promoting collective interest in European organizations that fund scientific and technological research and in organizations that carry out that same research.
The entity also contributes to strengthening the European Research Area through its cooperation with key partners. The Foundation for Science and Technology became a member of Science Europe in May 2012.
