The award, which recognizes innovative works and projects that utilize information preserved by Arquivo.pt, is about to close its application period. Submissions are open until next Monday, May 6th.

Over the past six years, The Arquivo.pt Prize has already awarded almost €100,000 in prizes, distinguishing dozens of innovative projects carried out based on the information preserved by this digital service made available by Foundation for Science and Technology, through the FCCN.

The distinguished works consist of practical applications or studies of any area of knowledge, as long as based on information accessible through Arquivo.pt, which demonstrate the usefulness of this public service and the importance of preserving information published on the web. Education, History, Sociology, Health, IT or Communication are some of the areas of work distinguished in the past.

Arquivo.pt Award 2024

This year, one of the main innovations was the creation of an honorable mention and corresponding award for teachers. Awarded by the Association DNS.PT, this recognition will be given to a teacher who has encouraged the submission of works for this edition of the Arquivo.pt Award. According to the organizers of the initiative, “A check worth €1,900 will be awarded to the award-winning teacher for the purchase of a laptop computer”.

Likewise, Jornal Público and the Aveiro Media Competence Center (AMCC) also awarded an Honorable Mention in this edition, distinguishing, respectively, works that focus on the Público online web archive and the web archive of one or more Portuguese online media.

After the application period closes, the jury – composed of experts from various fields of knowledge – will evaluate the various submitted works and name the top three.
