The application period for the Arquivo.pt Award, the digital service of the Foundation for Science and Technology, developed through FCCN, has ended. There were 27 works nominated for the award, which is held annually and recognizes research that uses information preserved on Arquivo.pt. 

João Gomes, area director of FCCN and responsible for Arquivo.pt congratulated this participation, "Congratulations to those who accepted the challenge. Thank you to everyone who applied," he said. 

 “We received 27 works that use the information preserved on Arquivo.pt, which we consider to be a very positive result and demonstrates the maturity of this initiative. Each year, the papers introduce new ideas on how to use the information preserved on the Web, demonstrating that it is important for improving scientific research and serving citizens.“, he further highlights. 

The winners will be announced at the Science Meeting 2024, which takes place from July 3rd to 5th, at the Porto Customs Congress Center and which will have as its motto “+Science for One Health and global well-being”.  

27 works nominated for the Arquivo.pt 2024 Award  

Among the applications, 17 are in the form of mobile applications, six are studies and there are also videos or video models.. The proposals cover a variety of topics, from Social Sciences, Humanities, and Politics to Technology and Natural Sciences, among others.   

THE 1st place will receive a prize worth €10,000, the second will win €3,000 and the third best work will be awarded €2,000. The jury will also select the winners of the competition's honorable mentions. Eleven of the submitted works are candidates for the Jornal Público Honorable Mention and another 11 for the AMCC – Aveiro Honorable Mention. Media Competence Center. Six are also nominated for Honorable Mention .PT.   

Special mention “April 25th and Democracy” in the Arquivo.pt 2025 Award 

In the Arquivo.pt 2025 Award, to continue the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, a special mention will be included for works on the theme “The 25th of April and Democracy”.  

With this new feature, any interested researchers and citizens are challenged to create innovative work using Arquivo.pt.
