THE Future Talent 2025 is a program that provides students and young professionals from various countries with the opportunity to develop their effective public speaking and presentation skills. Applications must be submitted by February 3rd.

This is an initiative of the pan-European data network for the research and teaching community, GÉANT, which connects the different national research and education networks (NREN). The FCCN, digital services unit of Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), is the representative of this network in Portugal and is responsible for registering all students interested in the program.

THE Future Talent 2025 program includes several workshops practical and interactive, which will take place in a virtual format during the months of April and May, and will provide candidates with a safe environment to develop their communication skills and create opportunities for networking among themselves. At the end of this training, each candidate is invited to record a video presenting their project(s), which is then shared on GÉANT's communication channels.

In 2024, Ricardo Veiga, from the University of Algarve, was appointed to carry out a presentation at TNC24 and highlights that “it was a transformative experience, which took me out of my comfort zone and brought new professional opportunities in the area, through the networking that the meeting provides”.

Take the TNC25 stage and participate in Lightning Talks

The best projects in the program are selected for their authors to go on stage and give a presentation at Lightning Talks, TNC25, the largest and most prestigious conference of research and education networks, which takes place in June 9-13 in Brighton, United Kingdom

Applications for the Lightning Talks must be made until March 11, 2025, and include the presentation of an innovation discovery, a project, the result of research, a study or innovative idea, among other formats that are of interest to the community, as long as it addresses a technical, economic, legal, environmental or security aspect in any area of IT and/or networks.

Program Candidates

All undergraduate, master's, doctoral or recent graduates with up to five years of professional experience who study or work in areas related to IT or networks and belong to a higher education institution are eligible.

All participants must be nominated by a GÉANT member NREN—in Portugal, the FCCN, FCT's digital services. Each NREN can select and support the registration of up to three candidates.

Registration until February 3rd

Interested parties have until February 3 to guarantee their registration, which must be submitted by the NREN in their country. In Portugal, interested parties should send their application to the address e-mail: c.imagem@fccn.pt
