THE Arquivo.pt Award 2025 already has registration open and the FCCN, digital services unit of Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), recalled the testimony of the winners of the 2024 edition, who shared their experience to encourage others to take advantage of this opportunity.

"This award brings us recognition and attracts people to these topics."

The “noticioso.pt” was the work developed by Antonio Ramiro and Carmen Fonseca that raised the first place in last year's edition of Arquivo.pt AwardThe project allows us to compare people's perceptions of media coverage in Portugal over the years: 2000 to 2020.

To Carmen Fonseca, “it was a great happiness and honor, for the prestige that the FCT represents as an institution, and for to see our work bear fruit – and be disseminated and used – which is, above all, what we want”.

"THE award helps, in the first place, with the financial resources that allow the project to continue and, secondly, brings recognition and attracts people to these topics. Not only to our project, but also to the message we want to convey: to encourage people to think about media coverage in Portugal.”, he highlighted Antonio Ramiro.

“It’s good to know that projects that use Arquivo.pt can receive this recognition.”

THE second place in the Arquivo.pt 2024 Award was attributed to Diogo Gonçalves, responsible for the work “Housing.NET", a project that allows you to monitor housing price trends in Portugal, interacting with news that contextualizes these prices and providing insight into how the market behaved previously compared to today. It integrates information from any district, municipality, or parish, providing a local view of housing prices.

The author of the project shared his testimony: “The feedback it's been amazing, It's good to know that projects that use Arquivo.pt can get this help and recognition.. The idea is that, as Arquivo.pt makes new data available, this data will continue to feed the project itself, allowing it, for many more years, people can observe the evolution of housing prices in Portugal”.

«The exhibition of this award can project our careers»

Diana Costa and Sergio Teixeira were distinguished with the third place in the award. “Portuguese Footprint” offers a retrospective of sustainability policies and practices applied in Portugal. The project involves a perception regional, through the newspapers of each district, and a take a close look at the best and worst that has been done for sustainability of each region of the country, through artificial intelligence algorithms, making a more global analysis that shows the evolution of these policies and their implementation at a national level.

In their testimony, the two authors state: “we were very happy with this distinction. From the beginning, we found the Arquivo.pt Award very interesting, and the idea of creating this project on sustainability arose. It was all so simple and quick – during maternity and paternity leave – that we really didn't expect to create something that would be in the top three works. On a professional level, the exposure of this competition can project our careers and, who knows, open doors in the future for other projects.”.
